SEVERE WEATHER and SIREN INFORMATION
The fire department's station siren activates whenever the fire department is dispatched to an incident but there are some other times when the siren activates that the public needs to be aware of. When the department is dispatched you will hear a long up and down siren tone for approximately three minutes.
The Civil Defense/Severe Weather siren is tested monthly on the first Saturday of the month at 1PM. You will hear a fast up and down warble tone (different sounding than when the department is normally dispatched) preceded by a long steady blast. The warble tone indicates a civil defense emergency and the long steady blast indicates a tornado warning! In the event of an actual tornado warning the siren will blast in three minute cycles until the warning has concluded.
In the event you hear the long steady siren tone please TAKE COVER and tune in to your local radio/television or NOAA weather radio immediately! For local watches and warning please visit the Watches and Warnings page at the National Weather Service!
