Key Points of Employment

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must live within a three mile radius of the station.  Questions about radius distance?  Email Chief Rockwell
• Training/Meeting night; Thursday night commitment every week; last Thursday of each month is open, some weekend trainings.
• Must attend Fire Academy; October through March.  Two nights or days per week with some weekend classes.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and a vehicle.
• Maintain a clean criminal and driver's record.
• Should be in good physical and mental health.
• Will work in toxic atmosphere, extreme cold and heat conditions, will get extremely wet, dirty and work until exhausted.  Will work in blacked out conditions and tight spaces.
• Heavy lifting and pulling, using heavy equipment.
• Climbing and working on a ladder, working on top of buildings.
• Must be able to work in a team, take directions and carrying out orders from others.
• Respond to alarms at all hours of the day or night (of your non-working hours).
• Must pass a physical examination and drug test.  (provided by the City of Mt Morris)

Compensation

• Volunteer/Paid on call department
• Paid per hour - per call; pay for attending the fire academy and some events.
• Pay cycle every 3 months.
